I have held Senior Product / UI Design Lead roles in the financial sector at Legal & General, Deutsche Bank and for public service broadcasters BBC and ITV for the last ten years. Prior to these roles I ran my own design studio for 14 years and led a team of designers, developers, and illustrators – creating designs for the Science Museum, Fortune, Wired, New Scientist, NHS, Penguin Books and Channel 4.

I am currently a Senior Design Product Lead at Legal & General in charge of self-serve for Pension and Investment customers. Within this role I generally work across multiple projects: rebranding, creating a design language system and maintaining its application across a wide range of digital products. This role has been shaped by working closely with Legal & General’s Branding team – helping to define the creative vision and how it can be applied online. I work across projects which involve consulting with a wide variety of stakeholders, facilitating creative workshops, designing and creating prototypes, user testing, and supporting end-to-end workflows in product teams. I am very hands-on, and I like to work closely with my colleagues – with the belief that understanding business objectives and the needs of the customer is required to make a successful design experience. I am actively involved in design education and mentoring young designers.

One of my primary goals at Legal & General is in establishing a Design Graduate Scheme / Fellowship. This has been successful in connecting universities, young designers and developing the scheme. I am able to work across multiple disciplines – creating brand identities and guidelines, designing design systems, user interfaces, user experiences, infographics, data visualisations, animations, and brand strategy.

My ethos is all about good ideas and appropriate, forward-thinking responses to a wide range of briefs and design challenges. Throughout the design process, I am inquisitive, focused, and methodical, offering intelligent and considered design solutions. I am at my best developing creative concepts and thrive on the energy, excitement, and challenges that new projects bring.

Early in my career, I was given the title of Graphic Design Creative Future by Creative Review magazine and I was awarded an Interactive Bafta for a Channel 4 commission.
